Friday, I left work a little early and a friend and I went to do some Christmas shopping. We got lots done! Of course, as is typical of me, I had a very detailed, specific list ready and I forgot to print it. I recreated it pretty good on the way to Prattville and actually marked off a good bit of it! We had a great time and a yummy supper at Olive Garden...NOT typical of me! We won't talk about me toting around a sale sign all around Kohl's after I picked it up to read it. Nor will we talk about me trying to make an un-automatic door open automatically :) It took all I could do to not head home to Carsyn instead of making the trip, but I'm so glad I did! I guess we all need that kind of time every once in a while.
We have been trying to plan a trip to Callaway Gardens for the last few years to go see Fantasy in Lights. David's mom has wanted to go since the first year they opened it and so has Vicki and Mama. We just never have been able to get it fit into December's crazy schedule! Well, we did it this year! We planned it back in October and we made it happen :) It was a blast! Carsyn did GREAT! We got to take all of Robert's babies and they had such a good time. David's mom was like a kid herself. She probably would have had even more fun had she watched the weather and took an appropriate coat! Oh well...
The kids got to see Santa. Grace actually talked to him and Carsyn was still mesmerized with him. No question about whether or not Dylan or Daniel would talk to him and Kaylee came around. Old Man Winter decided to blow through about half way through our ride on the Jolly Trolley. It was FREEZING on the way back to the truck! Carsyn slept through the ride all bundled up and Dylan didn't quite make it to the end, but he sure tried! The lights were beautiful! Definitely worth the trip!
David and I finished off the weekend with one more shopping trip on Sunday. We went to check on Santa's progress. He's pretty much done :) Yay! One more thing to mark off the list!
We are super excited about Friday night. We will be hosting a couples Christmas party for the first year. We've wanted to do it for several years, but, like other things, just never could get it worked in the schedule. Update on that later! And I am thrilled that we have no plans this weekend! We will be playing, relaxing and baking some goodies :)
