Trick or Treat!

I've never been a big Halloween person. We've never "celebrated" it. As a matter of fact, I only remember going trick or treating once in my entire life and that was because my brothers and I were with some of my grandparents on Halloween and they took us to some of their friends houses. Really, the only thing I remember about going is that we used brown paper grocery sacks and gots lots of that sticky, yucky candy that comes in the orange and black wrappers...

Honestly, I didn't even know how to Google this candy to find a picture! I had to ask a friend...evidently she likes this stuff???

Eww...I digress...

Anyway, Mama would let us dress up to go to the Fall Festival at school but I don't even remember getting excited about that! I think I was usually a cheerleader...woohoo...so out of my element {insert sarcasm}.

Give me about 5 of these

one of these

(Even skipped the Reese's this year!)

and a pumpkin to carve and I'm good for Halloween!

Needless to say, I was a little lost on how to do this whole Halloween thing. I know Carsyn won't remember this halloween anyway, but still...Is it okay to dress her up, to let her get candy but not "celebrate" the holiday? Honestly, I guess I'm just a little confused as to how to handle this one...

Of course, we didn't have to worry about the candy part this year. We did dress her up. She was a Tiny Dancer. All of Robert's babies were down for the weekend, so they all got dressed up and we went trick or treating on a hayride with some of my sister-in-law's family in the big town of McKenzie. The weather was so pleasant. I was afraid that it was going to be too cold to get her out in it. I sure wasn't going to risk her getting sick just to ride on the hayride (and sleep the whole time)! Fortunately, the weather was great! After the hayride, we visited David's parents. We tricked them into thinking we were coming for them to see the kids...actually we were there for them to treat us to good ole fashioned ham biscuits :) Just kidding! Homemade buttermilk biscuits and ham is a treat anytime, right?!?!

Anyway...on to the fun part...the pictures!

Sweet, sweet transformer..."Weady for his Zizi" by the end of the ride. He was a sneaky one about candy! I think he came home with more than any of the others! At one place, the girl had some candy in a bowl giving it out and had her refill stash beside her. Daniel smiled sweetly at her and reached down in the refill stash and got a big ole handful of candy!

We always have such a good time when we have all of the kids together. They are all so sweet and so much fun in their own unique ways. Fun night! We were all whooped!
