Friday was hard. 2/25 will never be easy. It marks another year gone by without Robert. I am nothing but an emotional basketcase on that date, so I planned ahead. I have a wonderful boss who is very understanding. I took the day off of work so that I could keep my mind and body busy. The more I sit, the more I think. The more I think, the more I cry. Somebody walks by, sees me crying. Then I have to talk. Which makes crying worse. Then they go mention to someone else that I'm not having a good day. I get myself together. Someone else comes in. I know the intentions of all of those sweet people, but I felt that it would be easier to avoid it if I could. So, I did...
Fortunately, David was off on Friday also! We decided that we would leave later Friday night, at Carsyn's bed time, and head down to the beach for the day. We thought the ride would be much more comfortable if we had some extra room so off we went to pick up David's new truck! That was the quickest, easiest car shopping that I have ever done. I DESPISE car shopping!!! We left at 8:50 and we were back at 10:15 with the truck! Thank the Lord for the extra room!
After picking up the truck, Carsyn and I went out and had lunch and ran some errands with a great friend. The weather was gorgeous all day! We got back home, played outside, took a stroll, visited with Zizi and Grace for a bit and gathered our things to head for the beach. The beach. Oh, how I love those words!
Carsyn's first tractor ride.
So, we left when Carsyn was ready to go to bed Friday night and I woke up to two of my very favorite things Saturday morning...
this...
and this...
We had to make a quick trip to Target first thing to pick up a few necessities...like an umbrella and sunblock :) Those are a must now! We got back to the hotel and got ready and headed down to the beach. It was absolutely gorgeous! David and I have gone to the beach many, many times and he is not one that can just lay there and close his eyes. I am. He has always said that he would be so glad when he had somebody to play with while I just lay there! He has that now so he was as happy as a lark :) After about an hour, I got a text from Ashley and after a couple of texts, we figured out that we were on the same beach...just a few miles apart :) So, she and her boyfriend, Stewart, loaded up and came to us. We had such a good time! I was so glad that they came down! Here are a few pictures from our day!
I'm ready! Let's go!
This is the new cheesy grin that she has started making :)
Whoa! That thing is bright!
What is this place???
She was so excited :)
We had to keep that bald head covered :)
Beach babe!
I just thought this was a sweet picture..
She napped and daddy watched her nap...
Carsyn and Ashley :)
That cheesy grin again :)
Please, mama, please give me that camera! Can't you SEE that I NEED it to chew on?!?!?!
Sunday, we went to Auburn for Ashley's last meet before state. She did AWESOME! We were so proud of her! 9.000 on floor! 8.8 on bars! 8.75 on beam! (no falls :)) and 8.1 on vault! Vicki, Carsyn and Grace went with us so she had her own cheering section. And, of course, Grace entertained everyone in the stands with her dancing...that was just hilarious. We stopped back in Montgomery for a little shopping then headed home. Man, what a weekend making memories! I was whooped!
Lauren :)
