I'm really not complaining. I mean, I totally realize that moms do this EVERY day!
I'm spoiled. I know. It's not my fault.
I mean, if I need a shower and David's not home, I just call mama or daddy and they come sit with Carsyn while I get ready. It's that simple.
I should, however, get credit for having THE. CLINGIEST. CHILD. IN. THE. WORLD.
I mean seriously! Sit in a bouncy seat without someone sitting with her? No way!
Put her in the CAGE (aka Pack & Play)? Don't even think of it (unless, of course, you enjoy hearing her scream to the top of her lungs).
I have tried pulling the highchair in the bathroom and putting food on it while I shower. That works pretty well until she runs out of food.
So...back to Saturday.
David asks what we are going to do Saturday night. (This is at lunch/nap break between pool trips) I said, "I don't know...Rachel and them haven't been over in a while...want to see if they want to do something?"
I swear those were my exact words.
"Sure!" he said.
I was trying to get in touch with Rachel over the next bit. David calls at 3:00 and says that he thinks he will go fishing for a while...ok
Then I find out that David has already talked to Dewayne...it's now 4:00 and the house has to be put in some kind of order for company, I have to have a shower and, well, food would be a really good thing to have if we are going to cook out...right?!?! Right. Hamburger buns do you no good without something to go in them.
I should also mention that Carsyn is NOT the child to take to town. A buggy? Umm...no. She WANTS to run. She can't help it. It's not her fault though! We should have known before deciding to have a child that a child that has both of us in her will NEVER be able to be still!
So, we fly home and I decide that cleaning the house should be the first thing we do then shower, then go pick up food. Yes, I resorted to picking up BBQ, Rachel brought chips and a drink and a dessert :)
Carsyn was MUCH help cleaning the kitchen. I mean, I NEEDED for all of the plastic cups to be scattered about the kitchen floor and I needed ALL of the dishwasher gel caps in the bottom of the dishwasher. I even needed one of them opened! And she was AWESOME at losing 25 cheerios on the floor for every one that she got in her mouth! I'm sure the stuffed lamb needed a shower as badly as she thought that it did. She made sure that he got one.
We made it! Got the house looking decent, finally got dressed. (after having to walk around with one brown wedge flip flop and one flat, shiny, silver one because she has this thing about shoes and you HAVE to put them on if she brings them to you...it doesn't matter how many of them or what style they all are...she insists.) Off to Georgiana, we go. My plan was to go by Kendall's and get the BBQ and back by the grocery store (yes, I was dreading it) and picking up a couple of other things. That wasn't her plan. Hers was to go to sleep...RIGHT before we got to the BBQ place. So...you guessed it...no stopping at the grocery store.
The night turned out wonderful! We are so blessed to have great friends...who don't really care what our house looks like when they come over and who WILL laugh when they read this post because they know that I am not complaining about the whole day. I am only laughing about it :) I think it's pretty awesome that we can visit and have a great evening with nothing but each other's company and a little food. No TV. No games. No anything. It was great :)
So, having said all that, I salute you! ALL of you single mothers that do this day in and day out! I truly salute you. I know that I would figure it out too if I were in that position, but I just can't imagine!
Oh yeah...David had a good fishing trip and he enjoyed acting like the whole bbq thing was his idea.
Just a couple of pictures because I've been such a blog-slacker!!
:)
Have a great Monday!
Lauren
